MCS Controls and Monitoring Systems

Magnum Controllers
The MCS-MAGNUM is a durable microprocessor-based controller designed for the harsh environments of the HVAC/R industry. It is designed to be the primary manager of the package it controls. Magnum offers flexibility with setpoints and control options that can be selected before starting up a system or when the unit is active and running. Displays, alarms, and other interfaces are presented in clear, simple language that informs the user about the controller's status.
The MCS-MAGNUM-OEM-12 consists of a master control board along with a keypad and display. Complementing the Magnum microcontroller are the expansion boards: MCS-RO-BASE, MCS-RO-EXT, MCS-SI-BASE, and MCS-SI-EXT. This allows the system to be expanded up to a maximum of 112 inputs and 108 outputs. Communication with these units occurs at 38,400 baud through the MCS-I/O port, which is dedicated to this purpose. An RS-485 port is also provided for communication with Building Management Systems (BMS). An MCS-BMS-GATEWAY is available to provide protocols for: Bacnet IP communication interface, Bacnet MSTP, Modbus IP, Lontalk, or Johnson N2.
The information that can be transmitted includes unit status, input/output status, alarm information, and setpoints. The MCS-MAGNUM-OEM-12 is shipped with the MAGNUM hardware mounting kit, which includes eight #6 sheet metal screws, five spacers, a Lexan cover, and a MAG-KEYPAD cable to connect to the MAGNUM. A complete software support package is available for your PC, allowing system configuration, dynamic on-line display screens, remote communication, graphics, and more.

Micromag Controllers
The MicroMag is a rugged controller designed for the harsh environment of the HVAC/R industry. It is designed to be the primary manager of the package it controls. MicroMag offers flexibility with setpoints and control options that can be selected before starting up a system or when the unit is active and running. Displays, alarms, and other interfaces are presented in clear, simple language that informs the user about the controller's status.
The MicroMag is designed to control up to 6 compressors with 6 circuits each. As a complement to the MicroMag controller, there are 2 expansion boards that allow for 26 relay outputs, 1 triac output, 42 sensor inputs, and 12 analog outputs (using 2 expansion boards). The expansion boards use the RS-485 protocol, allowing a distance of 5,000 feet between the MicroMag and its expansion boards.
The MicroMag has two RS-485 ports. Both ports allow the user to communicate interactively with the MicroMag via MCS-Connect. A BMS (Building Management System) running Modbus RTU or BACnet MSTP can also communicate with the MicroMag via the RS-485 port for monitoring purposes. Since the terminal blocks are removable, replacing the board does not require removing the cables.
